Make sure you dedicate one week before or after your teaching practice to wander around London. This city will have you vibing in no time!
You’ll be working with young learners so you won’t be bored during your one to three weeks of teaching practice in the home of the English language.
You will teach in Colchester, Essex which is the situated 50 miles (80 km) northeast of London with direct access to the capital via motorway and rail.
You will be adding up to 65 hours of English teaching practice for every week you partake in the scholarship making you a very strong competitor in the job market on completion.
The first thing to do when you visit this fascinating city is to visit the famous Shard building for dinner and drinks on the 32nd floor to give you the best view of the city you will explore (tip: book tickets in advance).
There is no question the city of London is steeped in history, one of the most significant landmarks is The Tower of London, step 1,000 years into the past, or visit the the Queen’s residence Buckingham Palace, or take it a step farther by meeting the royal family at Madame Tussauds.
London is the a city of the arts, home to Central Saint Martins where greats such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan studied. For Harry Potter fans you cannot visit the UK without experiencing the Harry Potter tour. An all singing, all dancing West End Show. You haven’t experienced London without experiencing the historic theatre scene.
Then slow the pace down and escape the city to the picturesque English countryside. Why not visit Highclere Castle, the country estate Downton Abbey is set, or the amazing Eden Project consisting of multiple of biomes or even travel north to Scotland to pick up a kilt and really experience the highlands for yourself.
