Employer Approved TEFL Courses
What Is TEFL?
TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It is training that helps fluent English speakers learn how to teach the language to non-native learners.
Speaking English and teaching English are different skills. A TEFL course shows you how to explain grammar clearly, plan useful lessons, manage learners, correct mistakes and adapt your teaching to different ages and ability levels.
After completing the course, your TEFL certificate provides evidence that you have studied recognised teaching methods. It can support applications for English teaching jobs abroad, online and in international learning environments.
How to Get TEFL Certified
To become TEFL certified, you choose an accredited course, complete the learning modules and pass the required assessments.
A 120-hour TEFL course is the usual starting point for new teachers and is commonly requested for entry-level roles. It can often be completed online in four to six weeks, depending on your study schedule.
A 300-hour Level 5 TEFL diploma offers more advanced training for people who want to build a longer-term teaching career or apply for more specialised roles.
What Will You Learn?
You will learn how to set lesson goals, teach grammar and vocabulary, create engaging activities, manage students and check whether learning has taken place.
You will also learn how to adjust your approach for online and classroom teaching. The aim is not to make every teacher follow the same method, but to help you make better teaching decisions for different learners.
Do You Need a Degree or Teaching Experience?
You do not normally need a university degree or previous teaching experience to enrol in a Premier TEFL course. You should, however, have an advanced level of English so that you can understand the training and explain the language accurately.
Course entry requirements are different from job and visa requirements. Some employers accept teachers without a degree, while others require one. Countries may also have separate rules for work visas, background checks or qualifications.
Where Can You Teach?
TEFL-qualified teachers work in language schools, private academies, volunteer programs, summer schools and online classrooms.
Teaching opportunities can be found in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Spain and Mexico. You can also teach English online from home, work with private students or combine remote teaching with classroom work.
Support After Your Course
Premier TEFL has trained more than 54,000 graduates across 89 countries. After completing your course, you can access career guidance, job opportunities and support with applications.
Students planning to teach abroad can also receive general guidance on visa preparation and relocation. This means you finish with more than a certificate. You leave with practical teaching skills and a clearer route towards your first English teaching role.
