Am I too old to TEFL?

You’re never too old to teach English as a foreign language. In fact, what better teacher is there than someone with decades of work and life experience?

It might take you longer to get hired but as long as you are a fluent English speaker and TEFL qualified, and focus on countries where you are eligible to work legally, you can have a very successful teaching career.

Teaching online is one of the best routes for older teachers — there are no visa restrictions, you set your own hours, and your life experience is a real asset in the classroom.

Do I need to be a native English speaker?

No! But you will need to be a fluent English speaker with a great command of English.

Plus, we have one of the largest ranges of paid TEFL internships welcoming non-native English speakers, and many online teaching platforms actively hire non-native teachers with the right qualifications.

What if I’m not good at grammar?
