Your Trip Itinerary
Day 1 1 day Getting there
All qualified applicants will fly into Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi (HAN) where you'll be picked up by our in-country team.
Days 2-7 6 days Orientation
You'll enjoy a full week-long arrival orientation. During your first days you'll master local greetings, get familiarized with the customs (and the faux pas to avoid), practice your TEFL skills, make new friends over the welcome dinner, and eat. A lot! Previous cultural excursions include a city tour and visits to local museums. Midweek you'll travel to your placement location to settle into your new housing and neighborhood.
Days 8-146 5 months Your teaching experience
It's time to start your English teaching job in Vietnam at a private language school, private or government primary/high school, or a university. Your students will range in age from 4 years old to 18+. You can expect to work between the hours of 7.30am to 4.30pm for ~35 hours weekly. That breaks down to 3-4 lessons daily, 5-6 days a week for ~20 hours of active conversational English teaching, leaving you plenty of time, up to 15 hours each week, for lesson plans. Placements for upcoming intakes are centered around Hanoi and Haiphong in Vietnam's beautiful and more traditional north.
Day 147+ Ongoing After your internship
Congratulations, you did it! Make sure to celebrate this achievement. It's time to decide if you'd like to see more of Vietnam, traveling or teaching (or both). You might decide to extend your stay in Vietnam and teach for longer by renewing your contract.

Just do it — the reward outweighs the risk
Just do it. If it doesn't work out, you're only ever a flight away from home. But the reward outweighs the risk. The friendships, travelling opportunities and the work experience really make it worthwhile.
Strong coffee, wild motorbike rides
Vietnamese coffee is not for the faint of heart, and neither is riding on a motorbike that's weaving in and out of city traffic, but that's part of what makes Vietnam such a special place!
More resilient than I knew
I think I've learned that I'm a lot more resilient than I thought, it has also triggered a strong desire to travel the globe and experience as many cultures as I can.
If you're thinking about it — just do it
I chose Southeast Asia because I wanted to experience a brand new culture and Vietnam because I saw so many beautiful pictures of the beaches, cities and countryside. What's not to love! If you're thinking about doing an internship my advice would be to just go for it. If you're thinking about it, just do it! You won't regret it and you'll have the adventure of a lifetime!
The world's fifth happiest country
It doesn't surprise me that Vietnam is ranked as the fifth happiest country in the world. The locals are always smiling, and you can augment these smiles by learning some of their language. I cannot recommend the Vietnam internship enough. Whether you want a career break, a fresh environment, or you're just feeling adventurous, it is the most rewarding experience you could ask for.
Locations
After you settle in, you will spend the semester teaching in one of our stunning placement locations including Hanoi and Haiphong.
Cultural excursions
Wondering what you're going to do with your precious free time? We're glad you asked! We know your adventure bucket list is long, but make sure you tack these recommendations from past TEFL interns in Vietnam towards the top!
-
City
Explore both HCMC and Hanoi if you can—both cities serve up Vietnamese history and culture in their own ways, giving you a deeper, richer picture of the country.
-
Food
Pho-get about phở for two seconds & instead try bun bo hue. Its vermicelli noodles are thicker, the lemongrass flavor stronger, & the toppings heartier. Yum!
-
Activity
Get your fortune on track as you celebrate Tet, Lunar New Year. Smell the yellow blossoms & oranges, marvel at the fireworks, & keep the party going for 7 days.
How it works
Before you go, you’ll have an application form to fill out and documents to submit, a video chat and then you’ll be on your way.
