Your Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Getting there

All qualified applicants will fly into Nội Bài International Airport in Hanoi (HAN) where you’ll be picked up by our in-country team.

Day 2-7

Orientation

You’ll enjoy a full week-long arrival orientation. During your first days you’ll master local greetings, get familiarized with the customs (and the faux pas to avoid), practice your TEFL skills, make new friends over the welcome dinner, and eat. A lot!

Previous cultural excursions include a city tour and visits to local museums that bring to life the most famous parts of the country’s history.

Midweek you’ll travel by bus, train or flight to your placement location to settle into your new housing and neighborhood.

Day 8-146

Your teaching experience

It’s time to start your English teaching job in Vietnam at a private language school, private or government primary/high school, or a university. Your students will range in age from 4 years old to 18+.

You can expect to work between the hours of 7.30am to 4.30pm for ~35 hours weekly. That breaks down to 3-4 lessons daily, 5-6 days a week for ~20 hours of active conversational English teaching. Leaving you plenty of time, up to 15 hours each week, to mastermind your next set of lesson plans.

Past interns have been placed in cities all over the map. Placements for January 2024 are centered around Hanoi and Haiphong in Vietnam’s beautiful and more traditional north.

Vietnamese schools vary in size, it’s commonplace for urban institutions to have up to thousands of students while regional primary schools may host 100 or less.

Day 147

After your internship

Congratulations, you did it! Make sure to celebrate this achievement. It’s time to decide if you’d like to see more of Vietnam, traveling or teaching (or both).

You might decide to extend your stay in Vietnam and teach for longer by renewing your contract. The possibilities are endless for you now as a confident and experienced TEFL teacher.
