Placements vary from primary (pratom) to secondary schools (matayom) primarily in the Central and South, North, and North-East Thailand, enjoying weekends and public holidays off. Teaching placements are in formal Thai schools, and placement towns often have other foreigners living and working there, for example teachers, travelers and expats.
Typically the school day starts at 7.45am, finishing by 4.30pm. Through 20 – 24 hours of face-to-face teaching in school classroom settings each week, you will be aiming to improve your students’ reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Any support you need for activity planning will be on hand from your teaching colleagues.
The academic year is split into two semesters and you’ll enjoy around a month off in between. Teachers often use this time to take an island vacation and relax as well as invite friends to visit from home.
While applicants cannot choose the type of school, location or age group as it depends upon availability, we endeavor to meet the preferences of teachers. Groups of friends and couples are also welcome to apply, as we will make a recommendation to be placed together in the right school placement.
After you settle in, you will spend the semester teaching in one of our stunning placements throughout Thailand.
For life outside of the classroom, you get to experience first-hand the ethnic and cultural variations of Thailand. Bordering Laos and Myanmar, Northern Thailand is world-renowned for its lush mountainous peaks, the beauty of its ancient temples, mysterious Thai hill tribes and cooler, yet still tropical temperature.
After your first teaching semester head to the coast to soak up some sun during your month off. White sandy beaches line the coastline of Thailand and are a mecca for expats and tourists in search of entertainment and a bustling nightlife.
Island hopping is a must, take a speedboat ride to Koh Phangan for a full moon party or go snorkeling off the small coral island of Koh Tao.
The salary of a TEFL teacher in Thailand is between 30,000 and 34,000 (THB) Thai Baht per month. With that salary, you are totally set to enjoy your time and be very comfortable while traveling during weekends off.
Teachers can opt for fully organized accommodation or a 3,000 (THB) Thai Baht accommodation contribution throughout your teaching contract, this incredible salary package will be hard to beat.
When budgeting remember you’ll have one month unpaid between semesters – we recommend saving a little each month towards a well-deserved relaxing holiday.
