Overview

They say that the only risk in starting an English teaching job in Vietnam is wanting to stay. Rough around the edges, and beautiful to its core, Vietnam is for anyone craving something a little different. Southeast Asia’s premier nation is bursting with life, culture, and teaching opportunities.

After kayaking all day in Halong Bay until your arms feel like (rice) noodles, dodging motorbikes, and admiring the uniquely French and Chinese elements of its energetic cities, you will be thoroughly enamored with Vietnam. Floating the Mekong River, crawling the Củ Chi tunnels, and sunbathing on the sparkling beaches of Mũi Né and Nha Trang must also make their way to your ESL bucket list.

Nestled in the heart of South East Asia, Vietnam has long been a TEFL hot spot and an exciting place to develop your TEFL career during this 12 month supported job placement.

Premier TEFL has 100+ highly-supported teaching positions available with our trusted partner who have over 56 teaching centers in more than 25 locations throughout Vietnam. Providing professional support year round, you’ll gain the most rewarding teaching experience.

Teacher Training

Before you start your exciting new life in Vietnam, we recommend taking a minimum of 120 hours of TEFL training, to fully prepare you for success as an English teacher abroad. Learn the key techniques of teaching English through total language submersion as well as develop your skills and understand what’s expected of you.

Your week-long arrival orientation is spent settling into Vietnam life and culture as well as preparing for success in the classroom. During this initial week of localization, you’ll dive into workshops on school methodology, classroom management and lesson delivery – all the while developing your teaching skills for the upcoming semester.

Put into practice all of the training you’ve so far received with pre-prepared lessons from your school curriculum. Share hints and tips on what went well (and what to avoid) with fellow newly-arrived teachers as you move confidently into your own classroom.

Cultural Excursions

Wondering what you’re going to do with your precious free time? We’re glad you asked! We know your adventure bucket list is long, but make sure you tack these recommendations from past TEFL teachers in Vietnam towards the top!

Vietnam

Explore both HCMC and Hanoi if you can—both cities serve up Vietnamese history and culture in their own ways, giving you a deeper, richer picture of the country.

Food

Pho-get about phở for two seconds & instead try bun bo hue. It's vermicelli noodles are thicker, the lemongrass flavor stronger, & the toppings heartier. Yum!

Festival

Get your fortune on track as you celebrate Tet, Lunar New Year. Smell the yellow blossoms & oranges, marvel at the fireworks, & keep the party going for 7 days.
