You’ll have completed our 120 hour TEFL Expert Course before even taking off on your Asian summer adventure which will fully prepare you to teach your class.

  • Passport holder from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • TEFL qualified (included)

How it works

Before you go, you’ll have an application form to fill out, a video chat, submit all your documents and then you’ll be on your way.

Getting there

You will be sent full orientation information before arrival allowing you to navigate easily to your accommodation. On arrival at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) you’ll get the Airport Express into the city. 

What do you need to organize?

  • International flights: You’ll need return flights (can be two one-way)
  • Police check: You’ll need a clean criminal record
  • Health check: You may need to provide a health statement
  • Vaccines: Consult your local doctor for advice
  • Budget: Spending money for your trips and souvenirs
  • Visa cost: You’ll have full sponsorship and support to obtain your visa
  • Insurance: It’s really important to sort your travel and health before you go!

Your teaching experience

During your working week, you’ll enjoy 30 hours of face-to-face teaching, helping improve students’ phonics, conversational English, reading, creative writing, listening, and grammar.

You will provide high-energy learning experiences for your students who will be 3 – 12 years old.

Placed in an English language center, a typical working week consists of two days off, one of which is Sunday.

Your work hours will include 9:30am starts and 6:30pm finishes three days and two days of 7:30pm finishes with a 1.5 hour daily lunch break. You’ll finish at 5:30pm on Saturdays, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the summer evenings.

Couples and friends are welcome to apply; we recommend applying early as placement together is based on availability.

On successful completion of your internship there may be the option to continue working in the English language centre for the academic year.

Location

After you settle in, you will spend seven weeks teaching in one of our stunning placements throughout Hong Kong. Locations are varied and include:

  • New Territories
  • Hong Kong Island
  • Kowloon

Outside the classroom

Not only will one of the wealthiest areas in Asia offer you a great lifestyle, you’ll also enjoy temperatures between 27 – 29° C during the summer months.

On days off entertain your inner child at Disneyland or give into your shopaholic side by visiting the amazing markets the city has to offer, from bird market to sneaker street, ladies market, goldfish market, flower market, the list goes on.

There’s always something to do in this lively city, whatever your budget! Whether it’s fine dining or looking for a bargain in the famous vintage shops you won’t get bored.

One thing you definitely need you pick up on your travels is a traditional silk dressing gown, they are deliciously comfortable.

Allowance

You’ll receive a high rate of pay for the duration of your time in Hong Kong.

Living very comfortably with your HK$13,000 (US$1,660/€1,345/£1,170) monthly allowance plus rent-free accommodation, you’ll have you the opportunity to travel and sightsee.

In total, you’ll receive HK$20,500 (US$2,610/€2,100/£1,835) during your summer internship.

Coupled with visa sponsorship, rent-free housing including utilities and WIFI, you’re pretty much set to enjoy spending all of your allowance on the fun stuff!
