Recreational learning activities and conversational English classes are rolled into one amazing summer TEFL internship.

Through games, fun excursions, mini field trips, drama, music, and any other creative techniques you devise, you’ll be delivering lessons that will be the talking point of many campfire chats.

Your Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Getting there

All qualified applicants will fly into the designated airport of Hamburg where you’ll be picked up. If you fly to a nearby airport and travel by public transport to your placement location, you can join organized shuttle transfers from Walsrode.

Day 2 - 7

Orientation

Beyond icebreakers, orientation is your chance to get the real inside scoop on camp living and teaching in Germany from local experts.

Not only will you pig out at a welcome dinner, you’ll have a full briefing on camp logistics, uncover the do’s and dont’s of German culture and nail down the house rules.

Day 8 - 35

Your teaching experience

It’s time to get into camp life! You’ll be confident after already completing 120 hours of online TEFL training.

You’ll be teaching students ranging in age from six to 16 with mixed English ability, giving you an incredible first-time teaching experience. Your work week will vary according to your schedule of classes and camps activities, around 15 hours total teaching — leaving up to 35 hours of extra curricular activities per week and some time for lesson planning too.

Your goal as an English camp teacher will be focused on conversational English practice, helping your eager students to feel confident as they develop their skills through games, drama, music and mime. You’ll be able to ask advice from camp leaders but don’t forget to bring your own creativity and ideas with you, this is your chance to shine.

If you play the guitar – bring it! Or any instrument. The children love to sing songs around the camp fire.

With an exciting line up of excursions included, you can prepare to check off a few amazing bucket list items!

Day 36

After your internship

Congratulations, you did it! Make sure to celebrate this achievement. It’s time to decide if you’d like to see more of Germany, traveling or teaching (or both).

You might decide to extend your stay in Central Europe and teach for longer. The possibilities are endless for you now as a confident and experienced TEFL teacher.

Native-level English speaker

Have a passport from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand. (EU passports will be considered)

High School graduate (A-levels, Leaving Cert)

Owner of a clean police record

TEFL qualified (included)

Whats not required:

Any teaching experience

To speak any other languages

International flights: You’ll need return flights (can be two one-way flights)

Police check: You’ll need a clean criminal record

Camp essentials: Budget €75 for a sleeping bag and mat if you prefer not to bring one

Travel insurance: It’s really important to sort your travel and health before you go, covering COVID-19 treatment. However, you’ll have access to an emergency doctor

Visa cost: You’ll have advice to obtain your visa if required

Budget: Spending money for tourist activities during free time etc.

First aid: Budget €65 to join the First Aid course at camp if you don't hold a valid certificate

After orientation in Walsrode you’ll be placed in one of five nationwide camp locations: Lüneburger Heide, Regen, Amrum Hachen & Möelln. You’ll be placed at the most suitable camp by our team.

Questions and Answers

How long will my Germany teaching placement be?

You can teach at the Germany TEFL internship camp for between 5 to 10 weeks.

Camp opens on 17th June 2023 with a week long orientation and runs until the end of August. You can choose how many weeks you stay for, from a minimum of 5 weeks.
