    Questions and Answers

How can I earn the upper pay scale in Cambodia?

Experienced teachers can expect to earn the upper end of the US $1,800 pay scale. Another factor is whether you hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) such as primary or high school teachers, or have a relevant teaching or education degree.

For newly qualified ESL teachers, a salary of US $1,000 – $1,400 in Cambodia offers a very comfortable life with the opportunity to save money each month if you want.

What help is there for finding accommodation?

You’ll have a choice of pre-booked hotel accommodation at special rates (hand-picked by our team) for your first two weeks at orientation. Options range from US$190 to $450 for the fortnight plus $50 for electricity which is charged separately.

At your teaching location you’ll have full support from our team to arrange apartment and villa viewings. There is a wide range of housing available for rent in Cambodia, with plenty of options for every budget.

Almost all rental apartments are fully furnished and some offer services such as cleaning, 24-hour security, garbage collection, and WiFi.

    Budget guidelines per month:

    • Private room in shared accommodation: $100 – $200
    • Studio apartment: $150 – $350
    • One bedroom apartment: $250 – $800
    • Two+ bedroom apartment: $300 – $900

Note: A down payment of one to two months’ rent is normal when signing your lease.

Do I need to be vaccinated for Covid-19?

No, it’s not required to have proof of Covid-19 vaccination to teach English in Cambodia.

In other TEFL destinations it can be a school preference to hire Covid-19 vaccinated teachers, however this doesn’t apply to the International Schools that we work with in Cambodia.
