Spain has long been a massive draw for people to TEFL. Fantastic climate, incredible culture, vibrant cuisine, and the TEFL industry is one of the largest in Western Europe and the world.

What do I need?

To be in a strong position to secure a TEFL job, you’ll need a TEFL qualification of at least 120 hours. You don’t need to have a degree, however, like many TEFL jobs, if you do have one, there are more opportunities available.

When can I teach?

You’ll normally start your teaching position in September or January and it will complete in late June.

What can I earn?

The wage levels in Spain mean that you whilst you won’t grow your savings account, you will have enough to live comfortably.Aim for around €1,400 per month and remember that most TEFL jobs are located in the large cities where living costs are high.

Where can I teach?

As English is mandatory in Spanish schools, you’ll find plenty of TEFL opportunities in all the major cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Valencia.

There are positions in kindergartens, state schools and private language schools. You can also consider offering one-to-one language tuition. This may be to schoolchildren or business executives.
