Modules One-Three:
Module One: Principles of Teaching English Grammar
You know how to use English grammar innately, but we’ll teach you the terminology and how to pass it on.
By the end of this module, you’ll know your present continuous from your present simple tense no problem. Most of all, you’ll be familiar and confident with grammatical terms. This module will improve your understanding of basic grammar and give you the knowledge you’ll need to communicate complicated language rules to your students. We know that grammar can be intimidating for new teachers – it won’t be at the end of module 1!

Module Two: How to Teach English Vocabulary
Did you know that there are around 171,000 words in the English language? Don’t worry, you’ll only be asked to teach a few hundred of those! You’ll study the tools to teach vocabulary and use them effectively so that your students can use it in the right context. These include; how to integrate dictionary use, designing tests for vocab learning and strategies to maintain vocabulary usage, in other words, finding settings to practice learned language in. From beginner restaurant vocab like, MENU, PLATE, GLASS, MAINS to advanced business such as, INCOME, EXPENDITURE, RECRUITMENT. It’s all about practice.

Module Three: The Principles of Learners’ Needs and Teaching Methodologies
When you arrive at this module, you’ll know the nuts and bolts of what makes up the English language. Now you are going to learn how to present it, so that your students can learn easily and effectively. You’ll learn the importance of understanding WHY your learners are studying English to ensure that your students’ learning objectives are met. When you complete module three, you’ll know the most commonly used methods of teaching English as a foreign language.

Modules Four-Six:
Module Four: How to Teach Reading & Listening Skills
These are called ‘receptive skills’ because the student is receiving language. By the end of this lesson, you’ll know the most effective ways to engage students in reading English and how to comprehend what they listen to accurately. This includes setting listening tasks to music, radio and recordings, to skimming and scanning letters, emails, Facebook posts both inside and outside the classroom. Oh yes, you’ll be setting a lots of homework for your students!

Module Five: How to Teach Writing & Speaking Skills
These are called ‘productive skills’ because students produce language. You’ll learn plenty of useful ideas and activities about how to get your students up on their feet and chatting to you about hobbies, politics or story telling. You’ll also get help with how to teach your students to write English – at all levels, from favorite foods, to the economy in Spain. You’ll be able to distinguish between accuracy and fluency, and evaluate their importance in ESL learning. We’ll also give your strategies to help students self-correct their own work – which every busy teacher needs!

Module Six: How to Teach Pronunciation & Phonology
Help your students speak English confidently by practicing pronunciation. This is the primary reason that they want to learn English from you. As a fluent English speaker pronouncing a word like ‘enough’ is simple for you, not so with many other nationalities. But how do you help students whose mother tongue doesn’t even have sounds that can be found in the English language? We’ll show you that. By the end of this module you’ll have mastered modern techniques to help your students sound as fluent as possible. They will converse with the pronunciation that you have taught them with assurance and that’s always a good feeling for you as their teacher!

Modules Seven-Ten:
Module Seven: How to Use Teaching Aids and Materials Effectively
Think: Podcasts, videos and flashcards. TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. Newsfeeds, Buzzfeed and Spotify. But how can you use these resources effectively without drowning in content? This module will help you to understand what types of ‘ingredients’ are suitable for what lesson and to which students. This will make your job as a creative teacher much simpler and will help you create compelling, relevant and useful lessons either online or in the classroom.

Module Eight: How to Plan Engaging Lessons That Work
Preparation is key to all successful English lessons. In this module you’ll become skilled in designing engaging lesson plans and adapting lessons naturally in the classroom. Plus discover all of the tools for classroom management that make good teachers great. Learn how to plan for all levels and all class sizes including one-to-one or online lessons. Coupled with what you’ve studied in module seven, there will be no limit to the fun and engaging lessons you could teach.
