What do I need to teach in South Korea?

You must have a University degree and a TEFL certificate if you want to work at a good school in Korea.  Most of the schools taking applications from English teachers need them to have a TEFL certification and, in addition, many schools offer higher salaries to TEFL qualified teachers

When can I teach?

You’ll normally start your teaching position in either March or September with applications beginning at around three weeks prior.

What can I earn?

The average rate for first year teachers is 2.1 million won per month which means you can earn more than €1,700 per month. Also the cost of your flight will be reimbursed within your first month’s paychecks after arriving in Korea. Most schools will pay for your accommodation, and you will be responsible for paying your utility bills only.

Where can I teach?

You’ll find plenty of teaching opportunities in all the major cities including Seoul, Busan, Gwangju etc.

There are positions in kindergartens, public schools and private language schools. You can also consider offering one-to-one language tuition. There’s also summer/winter camp for children learning English.
